An image where shoe soles used to melt into mush is now $0.50 a shot, four years later
In early 2022, generating clothing with image AI usually meant a running jacket with three sleeves or a shoe with a mangled sole. Four years on, the same task now costs about $0.50 (roughly 700 won) for a single 4K, photo-grade image. Fashion outlet The Interline calls this shift the 'post-image era'.
According to The Interline, image generation and editing are now built-in features of chatbots and smartphone camera apps. Android and iOS have also begun adding AI editing functions that change what a subject is wearing. Professional production, meanwhile, has moved into private workspaces and shifted to a node-based approach that connects multiple generation models at once. Material and color edits now finish in under two minutes, and generation work is batched using MCP, a method in which a model calls tools to chain tasks together.
To demonstrate this, The Interline's team used image generation models alone to create a nonexistent brand, model, and campaign photoshoot, which ran in another article in AI Report 2026. The goal was to show that products that don't exist, models who aren't real, and locations that couldn't physically be shot can all be produced. Author Ben Hanson said the results aren't meant to replace actual creative direction, but to demonstrate what can now be made with ease.

RealSnap's Lookbook Snap is a feature that registers photos of clothing or accessories as items, then generates a styled shot combining the item with a chosen AI model, pose, and mood reference. The process starts on the Lookbook screen under the Snap menu, where you add the items you want reflected on the model, such as tops, bottoms, shoes, or bags.
This screen comes into play when a new product has launched but no model shoot has been scheduled yet, or when you want to turn product photos shot only on a hanger or mannequin into styled images for a detail page.
